James Skuce

Born in Nuneaton in 1934 and educated at Abbey Green and Manor Park Secondary Modern Schools.

Employment: Jaguar Cars 1949-1991, 42 years service, including two years National Service, Royal Warwickshire Regiment. I acquired staff status at Jaguar Cars after 20 years and achieved senior management level, supervising over 160 personnel, taking early retirement in 1991.

I have been avid Nuneaton Boro and Town supporter for over 70 years. When I was 6-7 years old sneaking into Manor Park by the tin fences on the Coventry Canal side. I played local football for St Mary’s and had trials for Leicester City at the age of 15, but due to low finances at that time was unable to pursue further. I played for the Army and Folly Lane in the 50’s, and also Jaguar Cars. Double knee problems forced my competitive days to end at the age of 27.

Committee experience: Chairman of Nuneaton Ex-Servicemen’s Assn., and Staff representative at Jaguar Cars, involved in numerous types of negotiations.

I was Handicap Secretary at Ullesthorpe Golf Club (retired) and my hobbies include gardening, golf, & Nuneaton Football Club.
