Volunteer initiative continues to build up steam

Nuneaton Borough Supporters Co-operative were delighted to welcome new volunteers to our weekly work party on Tuesday as our initiative to help the Club with ground improvements gathers momentum.

Despite the rain the group tackled a number of jobs on the day.
A donation of fence posts enabled the fence leading from the pitch to the changing rooms to be put back in place with the finishing touches scheduled to be carried out next week.
A step at the bottom of the main stand which was in a dangerous state was also replaced.

Carly was delighted that some of the group were able to assist her with a clear out and deep clean of the clubhouse kitchen.

Lots of boxes and rubbish that had been left in rooms and corridors were removed with volunteers taking items to the local recycling centre.

We have also been contacted by 3 more volunteers who are unable to attend on Tuesday’s but hope to form the nucleus of a ‘Wednesday/Thursday shift’ – more details to follow in due course.

At last it is very refreshing to see the Club embrace our offers of help and everyone at the Club on the day, including playing staff, took the time to have a chat with us expressing their appreciation for our efforts.

It seems that a sense of community spirit is starting to evolve and this can only help our Club move forward.

We hope that more volunteers will come forward to swell our numbers further, especially with the flexibility of volunteer mornings being extended  to Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, between 9.30 am to 12.30 pm.

We also hope that local businesses are able to support us and in turn benefit both the Boro and their local community. Our latest wish list is the loan of a skip for a couple of weeks, marine ply, or similar, for the perimeter fence and a tradesperson who can steam clean kitchen appliances.
